Don’t Gamble With Workplace Security
How a Las Vegas resort used continual workforce screening to identify 100 charges involving 84 workers over five months.
Client
An internationally known Las Vegas resort welcomes more than 25 million visitors each year. Its hotel and casino operations depend on a workforce of more than 8,000 people. Management wanted to learn about criminal charges involving employees after their initial background checks, so it could assess potential risks to guests, staff, and the business.
Challenge
A pre-employment background check captures information available at one point in time. The resort needed a way to learn about later charges without repeating full background checks for its entire workforce each year.
Solution
From August through December 2023, PostHire continually screened 9,444 individuals on the resort’s staff against official court records and formal arrest entries across the United States. When a new charge was found, the resort’s leadership received an alert so it could review the information under its personnel policies.
During the five-month study, PostHire identified 100 charges involving 84 hotel or casino workers across ten states. The charges included violent assault and battery, weapons offenses, fraud, drug offenses, and driving offenses. The study also documented multiple charges involving one employee in different states.
These findings gave the resort timely information to evaluate. A charge is not a conviction, and the complete published case study (PDF) does not report the outcomes of the resort’s personnel decisions.
